[SixClub] EF Johnson Viking Challenger on 6M?

Anyone using an EF Johnson Viking Challenger with a VFO on 6M?

I am guessing that it is really drifty.

Has anyone tried tripling a VFO to 25-27MHz then mixing 25 
or 27MHz
from an xtal oscillator as a way to reduce drift?

I imagine that two stages of tripling magnifies VFO drift so 
badly that
one can never stabilize the VFO enough.
