[SixClub] Anyone tried a Yaesu VX-7R on 6M?

Although I've never used the VX7 on 6-meters, I've found it to be a
handy and reliable rig and just received my second one today. The only
failures I've had were the speaker (still works, but distorted-I
typically use a head set) and the belt clip. I'm still using the
original battery plus two spares I purchased with it and that was one of
the very first ones out. I tend to be very hard on HTs. My last
Kenwoood TH-G71 took a nose dive from the top of the tower. The ground
was soft, but the HT looked like some one had set off and M-80 inside
it. I never did find all the parts. I found the display about 8' from
the case.

I had planned on getting a VX-8, but found the batteries are not
interchangeable. I figured being an extension of the same series they
should all at least use the same batteries. The reason I wanted the
VX-8 was for the hands off operation using bluetooth, but alas it was
not to be. OTOH by using another VX-7 I saved a good $400 plus compared
to the VX8, bluetooth, and bluetooth headset.

So I now have a matching pair that I often use in "locked crossband"
through the rig(s) in the car(s)
