One more thing, sometimes the MUF is so high, and the E clouds so
dense, that FM works for propagation.  Just this week, Thursday, I
worked stations in New England on 6m FM (52.525 is the calling
Frequency) with just 50 watts from my FT-8900 in the car and a 1/4
wave whip.  FM is the exception, not the rule, though.  Same holds
with 10m, 29.600 - 29.650 will turn up lots of repeaters you can hit.
