Best distance I have done with a 6m hamstick, was sometime last fall 
on a QSO to North Carolina (He had a Yagi that must have been aimed 
at SW Houston area, as there was a pileup for about 15 - 20 minutes 
)... Don't recall the call letters, but did confirm contact from my 
pickup at a CVS Drugstore parking lot 2 blocks from my apartment, by 
the time I got home, the band (just above 50.1250) became quiet as 
fast as it opened..

The RCI-5054dx100 does put out some strong RF, shortly after 
installation, making some test transmissions in apartment parking 
lot, I discovered each time I modulated, the florescent lights in the 
parking lot were lighting up as I drove by..! (Since then, I wait 
until I am away from the apartment before attempting transmission.).

I keep a scanner in my apartment set to several 6 m frequencies, both 
at the SSB end & at the FM frequencies of local repeaters.. Not much 
activity recently..!
