Well, the AV-640 was finally back in place and checked out yesterday.
SWR is well below 1.3:1 across the bottom MHz of the band and it hears
great. I had to move the 756 Pro (along with the rest of the shack)
from the den to the shop so we can eventually replace the carpet in
here, but that means moving EVERYTHING out.

At any rate, The yard, all one acre needed to be mowed before I could
get back to the rig. When I turned it on I only saw two signals on the
band at the moment, but they were strong. The first was VE1DX. He was
so strong I figured, no way could I not work him. So I gave a quick
call. (Never use my call more than once.). I let up on the mike key and
he came right back...but it was to some one else. I noticed the AGC was
a bit slow on recovery after transmitting so I started checking. The
756 Pro hadn't been turned on in nearly two years so I figured, maybe
I'd forgotten something, but that slow recovery bothered me. SWR was OK.
Then I noted (with carrier) the PO would fall off near the end of a
short transmission. The first thing that came to mind was the
Polyphaser. Sure enough, after removing it from the rig's one coax
connector the recovery was fine. So I went through the set up and then
moved back to the antenna and 50.130. Everything now appeared to be
working, except I never did work the VE1 even though the band appeared
to be open over quite a large area.

I *gotta* get that 7L C3i working again!
