[SixClub] Choosing a Logger - UPDATED

OK, did a little more digging ...
The developer of jlog appears to have all-but withdrawn
from active new development.
xlog v1.7 *does* include grid square logging. It appears
to rely upon Hamlib for rig access. (According to HamLib
my FT-857 may be accessed via the Alpha version to get
al least Freq & Mode: http://hamlib.sourceforge.net/)
Dana has noted that RoverLog is more than a basic logger
(perhaps I either missed some features on the web site or
they need to be added/emphasized). Dana notes that it
supports multiple networked stations, rig and rotor control
(I need to look more closely to see if my FT-857 is
supported), built in CW and voice keyer, sched manager and
more. It does export in Cabrillo format but there is no
interface to eQSL (yet). The super lookup function is also
very nice and links to QRZ, Buckmaster or the ARRL (FCC)
database. Sure sounds robust - will have to put in a request
for the eQSL interface to discover if that is planned for
any time soon.
Also, Don Inbody suggested DLab's DXKeeper - as best
I can tell it only runs under a proprietary MS version
of windows, it is not Apple or Linux compatible.
So, unless there are other recommendations of Linux-
friendly logging apps I will take another look at
xlog and RoverLog then check with my friends at Puppy
Linux for compatibility and get one up and running!
I need to enter my scribblings from this past weekend
and prepare for Field Day!
