Don: I watch satellite data for both solar flux and flare activity.
Second, solar wind speed and the rate of change of same.  Third,
geomagnetic activity, intensity and the leading and trailing edge of an
event.  10M beacons can give a leading indicator of 6M propagation pathes
and of course 6M beacons.  Propagation maps round out the mix.  35 years of
experience with this data doesn't hurt either  8-)
