I did a quick plot comparison of 4 antenna heights using HFTA which I posted
here http://www.mitchelson.org/pages/6M.htm
I run my 6M yagi at 62' which works well for low angle propagation. On short
skip with high angle it suffers but those signals are usually so strong it
does not matter.

I just picked up country 89 and 90 this past week running 100W so it has
worked well for me, even though work severely limits my time on 6. On 6M
groundwave I can reliable hold long QSO's with stations 325 miles away.
Higher would improve this but signals are usually Q5 over a couple of hours
it does not seem to warrant the effort.

But your local terrain plays a big part in all this and if you are really
serious you'll plot your whole azimuth every 5 degrees and compare plots (I
did this back during the winter when 6 was not cooperating).

I was expecting a bit of activity on this one. Being a rookie on 6m I too
am curious about low level/high angle antennas. How about it seasoned
vets, any advice or first-hand experience you can pass along on this? Larry
