OT: [SixClub] Survey Poll

I'm not an LOTW fan., but how do you make a profit on a free QSL/log 
service and an award program that's essentially free (unless you buy 
some of the arguably reasonably priced swag)?  And how/why does a 501(c) 
have to show a profit?
