Hi,

I have an Icom ICT/8(Now discontinued) triband
(6,2,440). Works great. Their last installment the
ICt-90 is a fine radio. I have a friend whose VX-7
exploded (!!) using only battery power ( I guess the
LiIon battery was faulty...). But I have another
friend whose VX-7 is fine. Things happen. Any of these
two radios is fine. A note about 6M, the antenna on
these HTs is, on 6M, marginal due to the lack of
counterpoise, so if your RPTs are very far, consider a
mobile antenna for your car with the appropriate
adapter. Performance on 2M and 440 is great on all of
them, but I think the Icom is cleaner in rx (MHO!).

Take care!
