May I play devil's advocate for a moment...
Here are my thoughts and my thoughts only...
Overlooking the happening on 14.275:
First, let's assume that:
VE7KFM is within his rights to be on the airwaves...
he has a right to his opinions as we all do, whether
we agree or disagree with him.
K1MAN also has the right to to be on the bands...
regardless of whether you personally agree or disagree
with him...or his opinions, or activities.
We are all agreed ( I assume...) that the goverments
involved in granting their Amateur Radio licenses
should police the frequencies better than they do.
VE7KFM should not Park himself on ANY set
frequency...it is not his right to do so...by doing
so, it could be argued he is maintaining a schedule
and basically acting as a Broadcaster. "Broadcasting"
as we all have supposedly learned is a no-no.
K1MAN is doing the same...BUT, in his defense, he
claims to represent a Ham Radio organization ( Intl
Amateur Radio, something or other...I don't know the
exact title) ala ARRL, who also maintains a "schedule"
and airs a number of features over the airwaves...
As long as K1MAN, abides by the rules and does indeed
"represent" a legally established Ham organization,
why then should he be punished for doing essentially
as ARRL does?
Wonder if it is a case of the pot calling the kettle
black?
To take another tact on this problem, "IF" these
gentlmen ARE in fact behaving in a rude or diagreeable
manner, then yes, fine or penalize them...IMHO, the
Hams who jam, harrass or otherwise interfer sort of
"fan the flames".Thus in reality are they then in
effect as much to blame as the two Hams targeted?
This uncouth activity on the part of the interfering
Hams must end. If the harrassment ceases, then
perhaps VE7KFM and K1MAN will also take note and try
to work within the systems of the two countries and
all this silliness will end. (I sincerely hope so at
least.)
Anyone who seeks to better Amateur Radio should be
praised and supported. Those who thumb their noses at
the system SHOULD be fined and punished or banned
accordingly. This goes for all involved...
Just as a side note here...I have had several very
nice QSO's w/ VE7KFM. I have found him to be a very
cordial and nice gentleman. I horbour him nor K1MAN
any ill will. I always conduct my activities with
honor and respect for others, I wish others would do
the same...
To those who choose to show their disdane by QRM'ing a
QSO or rebroadcasting foul language for seemingly
hours on end...please get a life. Stop acting and
reacting like children!
Common sense and a due respect for your fellow Amateur
is the way to go. If you don't like the activity of
VE7KFM and K1MAN, then register your complaint and let
Industry Canada and the FCC do the jobs they are paid
to do.
I know this is off topic,,,so let's go and enjoy the
hobby and the fellowship and represent what real
Amateur Radio is supposed to be.
