Was anyone aware that the ARRL sought and received an
experimental license for wide-band digital modes on 6M?
Are they really using an established 6M voice Calling
Frequency 50.400 for the testing of digital modes?
Are they IDing using CW or voice so Hams know what
they are hearing and from whom?
What power levels and how frequently into what sort
of 6M antennas?
Are they setting up a network of 6M digital mode
repeaters?
Here is an ARRL description of the mode but it is all
about microwave frequencies, no mention of 6M.
http://www.ceitron.com/mvus/hsmm1003.html
The site mentions some sort of survey that claims
a high level of endorsement from licensed Hams.
"A survey conducted by the ARRL Technology Task Force,
of League members and other amateurs revealed that the
number one amateur radio interest in new technologies
was in high-speed digital radio networks." (Pre-2001)
The site does not mention asking the frequent users
of 6M for their input. Has anyone heard from the ARRL?
Just wondering ...
