The cheapest new Garmin I know of, the Etrex, does Maidenhead Grid
squares, just over $100.
I have ran the M2 loop, a Hustler foldover mast with the triband adapter
and 3 resonators (Any of the Hustler foldover masts are 1/4 wave on 6
meters and can be used for 6 meters with or without resonators attached)
as well as a dedicated 1/4 wave magnet mount and the verticals perform
as well if not better than the horizontal loop, at least for ES and F2
openings.

The older Garmin II and III's did as well as some others. Some of the
newer
ones do not. Download the manuals off their websites and look. The ones
without maps and color all seemed to have it.
Well mobile is always a compromise in performance. 9' high for the loop
is
to low, really need at least 1/2 wavelength above the ground to keep the
radiation angle down. A 1/4 vertical is easy on most vehicles. But as I
mentioned make sure you have a good ground. Relying on the mount it's
self
is not enough. I always make a strap to from the feedpoint to the
vehicle
body and screw it down in inconspicuous place. Make sure you scrape down
to
bare metal and then once it's secured you can dab some paint over the
whole
area. Mine was done under the lip just a few inches from the mount.
I have some pictures of my past 6M mobile setup on my website.
