Today they have a similar model with major roads showing, but no mapping
capability.

I have considered getting a loop for the car, but decided not to complicate
matters any more than necessary. I already have wierdos following me and
asking me if I am space shuttle command or if I know their interstellar
friends. I know why some hams have "Not CB" on their cars now.
