[SixClub] RE: DX portion of the 6M band...

I'll have to say that, band for band, the folks on 6m seem to be among the
nicest. I think that the reason may be the, um, fickle propagation
tendencies. It makes it hard for folks to set up camp and "own" a frequency
the way some folks try to do on some of the more stable bands.

Certainly, when the bands open up, it can get a bit busy...and folks can
easily be in a situation where two stations can't hear each other, but can
be heard by a third (and fourth, and hundredth). Thankfully, most operators
seem to be willing to say "Up 5" or "QSY wherever".

That said, a review of the band plan every so often is a wonderful idea.
For the US, the ARRL 6m band plan is located at
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/regulations/bandplan.html#6m

Remember that different countries may have different bandplans; please make
allowances, and if things get crowded, find a clear one. 6 Meter openings
are too short to spend them arguing.

Cheers!

I'll put my two cents in, even if it doesn't make any sense! To too often I
have experienced hams who believe they own a frequency. Will not move and
when they have no one to talk to, will block the frequency with harmful
interference. Let's not get into reporting them...

I am not an experienced 6 meter enthusiast, but have listened and enjoyed
the band from time to time. When it is open it is busy and fun. Most of
the time the general calling frequency is being used as the contact
frequency, which multiple contacts can be made, because everyone checks
there first. They rarely move off the frequency if the band is open. Who
are we kidding, when we say General Calling frequency??

It is the rare ones who will not yield and move. Unfortunately, their the
ones who take up most of our time. My question is, if you find yourself
fighting over a frequency, Why??? Just move on to another frequency. Even
if they happens to be the DX window, which only bird brains would have a
general conversation on anyway. Arguements on the air only do injustice to
us all. Let it go guys...

You never know who is listening one these frequencies? Interested people
wanting to become a ham, or maybe a kid. What does it show them if they
hear two licensed Hams arguing over a frequency???

My sense of things, which maybe not worth two cents.
