Hi,
NTSC signal requires a bandwidth of 4.3 Mhz for B&W
and 6 MHz for color. No way around it, analogly
speaking. With MPEG 2, you could have 3 video channels
in that same bandwidth, in full color. This would turn
TV into a digital mode (so to speak). Then come the
hardware problem. Some years I was researching for
this and I found a company that manufactured MPEG2
encoding boards, to be used in camcorders and other
applications. But I had to buy at least 1000 for even
being considered. Reception of the signal is less a
problem now, because of the FTA receivers now
available. With a little effort, they could be used to
receive the MPEG2 signal. I will do a little search to
see if there are some encoding boards available and
let the group know ;-)
