We were in Norman, OK, with a dipole at 36 feet oriented ENE/WSW.
I was really surprised at the propagation patterns, and may try to
do a time-series plot on a map as part of my website. We never got
any contacts from close-in states (TX, KS, MO, AR, LA, NM), or from
the far west states, but did get contacts from the next set of states
out to the west (AZ, UT, CO, WY, MT) and to the east (IL, IN, PA,
OH, MI, NY, MD, NC, SC, GA, VT, NH, ME, and DC). The best way I can
explain it is that there was a roughly-constant-diameter ring of
places we could talk with, that the thickness of the ring increased as
the propagation improved, and that the thickness went down essentially
to zero as propagation got worse.
I was very surprised that we got no contacts from TX or AR, by the
way. C'est la vie.
