Hello, I live in the lakes region of NH. (FN43) Up to a short time ago, 33.90Mhz was used by the "lakes region mutual aid dispatch System " with 100s of mobiles and portabels. Several towns A model system that was copied around the country . LRMA moved up to VHF high band . Channel 1 being 159.900Mhz I remember also hearing the Ponderosa fire dispatch often on 33.90 when the band was open. I believe that some fire dispatches still use this frequency in daily operations around the country. Because of the frequency it was a great indicator of a possible band opening.
Regards
Pete/N1JHF
