Not true!

The WireMan sells long wires.  So does the hardware store.  [grin]

A Long Wire Antenna is just that.  It's a long piece of wire, usually
cut to a multiple of the wavelength of the desired band.  In this case,
a 5-wavelength piece of wire was used.

Long wires usually need a tuner or some sort of transmatch, as they
don't always present a 50ohm load to the transmitter.
