[SixClub] Antenna project

first let me ask forgiveness Before I make what may be a mistake,  you 
fellows know the old low band antenna by BD ( I think )  that you find 
scattered from here to eternity on small commercial towers all over the 
place, its kind of an ugly old bird, 4 radials and it goes vertical then 
loops back down ?
 well, anyway, Bruce KB5WNU one of my neighbors, has been rebuilding them to 
6 meters.
basically he changes the configuration of the radials, and then replaces the 
vertical shaft with a single aluminum shaft. on an MFJ analyzer it comes out 
very good. and I have one up here at my house and it seems to work very 
well.
 I will try to take some pictures if anyone is interested in this. since 
KATRINA most of us are scraping for antennas down here and these seems to be 
a cheap answer. any thoughts criticisms are compliments are welcome. its 
just a thought but I hate the throw good antennas away when they can be
