Morse Code is only a mode of operation similar to SSB and AM. Having it be
used as a testing requirement would be like requiring hams to know slow scan
TV or one of the many digital mode being developed. Some of us might have
trouble showing proficiency at hooking a computer up to a transceiver.
I for one am glad it was dropped as a testing requirement. I feel that while
it was cool to learn the language of the code, the 24 hrs of classroom
instruction was a total waste of my time that could of better been spent with my
sons and wife. I have never even once completed a QSO over the air using it.
If you want to use the code as your mode of communication, more power to ya!
Just my 2 cents worth..........
