It doesn't matter two cents whether there is a code test. The world was
going to come to an end when SSB displaced AM. The sun was never to rise
again when the no-code license was introduced.
If experienced hams take an interest in Elmering new hams, and teach them
the right way to do things, Technicians like me will be better for it.
Sending CW 60 wpm while driving 70 mph down the highway doesn't make a good
ham. (It might make a dead one though.) Knowing and observing regulations,
learning and practicing proper procedures, and courtesy make a good ham. The
practices and procedures of the newer 6-meter operators you observed and a
credit to the more experienced hams who took the time to Elmer or, at least,
presented good on-air images.
