Hi John and all,

I have had my "new to me " JST245 for almost 2 years
and I absolutely love it. Relatively simple and
straight forward to use, it was my dream rig from the
day it came out. 150W out of the box and built w/
milspec precision. I got my late/high serial number
rig from a ham in Houston, who now regrets selling it.
This gentleman is an Extra so I thing that tends to
speak highly of the rig. The only negative (if you can
call it that was the very high price I had to pay to
get it in the first place (some $1700.00).
Considering some rigs today that bring Dollars in the
multipe thousands, I feel like every penny I invested
was worth it. The rig is equipped w/ every option
available at the time, including the really neat
original Desk mic.I really like the bandwidth control
and the passband shift. The automatic notch tracking
feature has also proved useful. The rig features Quad
conversion, which I believe (correct me if I am wrong
here, still rather rare on most transceivers offered
today.
In short, whenever I see or read about the new high
dollar transceivers on the market today, I am just
happy to have the 245. I think it will be a hard rig
to beat for a long time to come as well and I don't
think I will ever even consider parting with
mine...way too much fun!

...I would like to have the JRL 2000 amp to go with
it, but just try finding one, I been hunting one for
over a year and no such luck! Oh well, I can dream
can't I!

I would like to hear what others have to say, so speak
up.
**************************************

BTW, my best wishes and prayers for those of you in
the Houston area, stay safe...any equipment can be
replaced, get to a place of safety as fast as you can
and God be with you!

John Carson kd5srw
