I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to coding
web-sites but I personally like a real clean start page (less than
100k total file(s) content) for a number of reasons most notably load
performance. The more you have on your start page the longer it takes
to load and the more likely someone is going to give up and move on.
You can link out to larger (aka slower) pages but you want to get them
on your site first.
Likewise I'm not real fond of any version of MSFP (aka bloatware)
either. I write all my code in notepad upload it and then pull it
back up in Dreamweaver for any necessary editing.
