Hellschreiber was patented in 1929, and is still in use today using the
original format. Hellschreiber was the first successful direct printing
text transmission system.

Fast hell was being used for Meteor Scatter before WSJT by a few
operators with good success on six meters but it was a little slow for
two meters.
