While 99% of my QSO's are ssb I have had some real good times with 6m FM. I haven't heard a 6m repeater yet but for this season I've programmed a bunch into my Yaesu 8900r. I now have 2 of them, one in the car and the other in the shack. I'll have a Comet GP15 at 40 feet if I ever get a nice day off work.
Last summer I was working SoCal on ssb when the station I was talking to asked me if I would go to 50.300 FM to work some mobiles out there that only had FM. IC706IIg 100 watts 6M5X aimed west. I worked a big pile up, 20 over 9 signals, and more than one said it was the first DX they had ever worked on 6. Nice, and easily as satisfying as ssb.
