They are a pair of 3-500Zs. The tune procedure for any rig of a similar
configuration should work just fine. Check out the BAMA web site for amps
like the Henry 2K, 2K4, etc. Any thing in that series should tune
similarily.
Me? I just tune for max output with the tun and load while increasing the
drive.
I don't remember if the 220 had a tune position, or seperate positions for
CW and SSB.
Unless you have one brute of a power supply tune up in the tune position, or
CW, then switch to SSB as tunning for full out in the SSB position drags the
plate voltage way down.
However I'll see if I can find the manual for my 2K4 for the procedure.
If the thing weren't so GAWD afful big I'd convert it to 6, but I just don't
have room for it here in the shack. Besides, I'm not much a of a 3-500Z fan
with their low 10db gain. I much prefer the new ceramic tubes. I'm not sure
if the Svetlana tubes are still available or not. I can use the 2K4 out in
the shop and once I get the horizontal stabilizer on the airplane I'll have
a *lot* more room. THEN I'm going to move a big office desk, and maybe a
couch out there. The whole shop is temperature controlled year round. Even
the concrete floor is insulated from the ground and outside.

the photo showing the hallicrafters stuff.
OTOH, I'd be glad to trade the 2K4 with two sets of good tubes (one pair new
and matched)
for an old 76A. It also has a very heavy plate transformer added.
