The Cushcraft AR-6 is indeed a fine and inexpensive, lightweight antenna.
Hurricane damage notwithstanding, the AR-6 easily outperforms the multi-band
verticals that happen to cover 6m, and I've had one for 20 years with zero
problems.

So far, in every single case I've found where somebody said the AR-6 did not
work well, when I visited the installation, I found they did something
wrong. Usually, they thought the ring tap position was a factory pre-set
and never adjusted it! Or, if they did adjust it, they didn't adjust it
well, not realizing how critical this adjustment really is (1/8" makes a big
difference). Or, they accidentally left off the coax stub below the ring,
which is part of the antenna. Or, something!

But, when properly deployed, the AR-6 is fine.

Do they still make the six meter Ringo Ranger? As I recall that was one hot
antenna back when the sun had spots. I'll check the garage, I might have one
out there.
