Looks like the ARRL changed the time period of this year's Field Day so
that it runs for 27 hours (NOT 24 like in the past). The catch is that you
can not setup prior to 1800 GMT (2 pm) on Sat. Since we are only going to
setup and operate here on Sunday so MATPARC can put its callsign on the air
this FD, that will give us 3 more hours of possible operating time, to make
a lot more contacts with a lot less competition. That means I can run here
until 5 pm local time on Sunday.
In light of this interesting loophole i may change the cookout dinner from
noon Sunday to perhaps 5 pm. That way anyone who wants to come here at 9 am
on Sunday can setup and operate for 8 hours. Most of the stations on the
East coast will probably stop at 2 pm (like in the past years) but the
Western states will still be going strong until 5 when FD closes for good.
Hopefully the bands will be good in the late afternoon.
I assume that Alford will most likely close down at 2 pm local time on
Sunday. If that is the case any Alford members who wish to stop by here at
2 pm to help us operate can do so with no conflict of loyalty ... and stay
for dinner afterwards. All hams are welcome. R.S.V.P is appreciated if
possible.
