Interesting. Maybe there are two variants of the radio? 
As I wrote above, and as someone else confirmed, the DC 
DC connector for my 551 is round with three
flat pins:

I forget which.

The locking ring is a fast-acting screw, too, ¼ or ½ turn.

Now if there were only someone I could hear!
