A group of hams on the "Salt Grass Link System" repeater in Houston, Tx.
are putting together a communications team that will accompany several fire
trucks under the Salvation Army umbrella, but can not move until permission
is gained by the State of Louisiana Emergency Management Department.
They have been told they will be based at "Gonzales, Louisiana" which I
understand is South of Baton Rouge.
Houston TV stations reporting from locations near Slidel, are assisting Red
Cross people as their gear was not operational (A Photo in Tuesday Houston
Chronicle illustrated a Red Cross Rescue van up to the windshield in water,
although I don't know if this was the crew involved in the news report.).
