The idea of 50.2 has been pushed by SMIRK (IIRC) to make it compatible with
the 2mtr calling freq of 144.2....BUT there are flawed arguments against
it..
There have been times where I have seen the band opening STOP before it gets
to 50.2...
Six meters suffers (if you want to call it that) from MUF more readily than
2mtrs....typically when 2mtrs is open, the entire band is open....on 6m,
that is not the case.....the MUF could have the lower part of the band open
and the upper part dead as a doornail.......I have seen this for myself
where I was able to work a station on 50.107 but at 50.207, the band was
DEAD and no joy.....

The use of 50.110 and 50.125 are deep in tradition but also have facts
behind them not present on the 2mtr band......its apples and oranges and you
cannot compare the two bands the same...(of course I wish we could get the
FM simplex channel of 52.525 changed to match the rest of the band....but
after 6m FM was allowed below 52.5, that one channel has never been
changed...........old habits on 6 die hard!
