I had 56 Q's in about 15 grids with 150W and a 3 el beam. Some of the
contacts I really had to dig out! Wish it had been better.
As far as the keyer thing goes, I use RoverLog for VHF contesting. It
has a very nice keyer function that runs off of wav files that you
create. It sounds very 'real'. It also has the ability to set a delay
on looping. I have never used the looping function as I would just
prefer to press the FKey that corresponds to the file I want to
transmit. I also wait about 5 seconds or so between transmits. While
5 seconds seems fast, take a look at a clock with a second hand and see
how long 5 seconds really is during a contest. The only reason I can
think of someone letting a loop run is that they are on another band at
the time and they are tr ng to hold their spot. If that is the case I
think it is a bad practice and I hope others are not doing it as well.
About 25% of my QSO's on 6 lead to working up the bands - 144, 222 and
432. By the time I made it back to 6 there would be someone calling
where I had been. I just found another spot but there are those who
want to 'own' a frequency.
