[SixClub] Interesting sidenote on weekend

I hope everyone had a better contest weekend than I did. I was mobile for a lot of it or sitting in Turn 2 at Richmond watching my driver leave his wrench in after a pit stop and then running out gas. Oh well at least the 24 didn't win.

But I heard something that I just thought I'd comment on. While we were sitting in the parking lot before the race and on the way home the next day, I heard a station calling CQ Contest. I won't mention his call because this isn't about him. But it is about his method.

You could tell he was using a voice recording because after he made a contact he'd make maybe 2 calls then switch over to  the recording. The difference was obvious. And this isn't about prerecorded cq calls either. His sounded fine and  I've tried to make one but was never satisfied with the quality.

The problem was that there couldn't have been much more than a one second pause between cycles. After a half dozen attemps to break thru, I gave up. But a stronger station did manage to break him and actaully told the guy that there were 5 people trying to get him but couldn't get his attention.Did the guy slow down. Nope. He logged the guy, thanked him and awwwwaaaayyyy he went. He never did change as far as I can tell. I heard him off and on during the 2 hr ride home but I did log him when I got home and swung the 5 el north and knocked on his door. 

I've seen this on several occasions and often wondered if there was a secondary contest going on for the most number of cq calls. I'd be wiiling to bet this guy would have at least 2x his score if he would have slowed down. I know of 5 calls he missed.

Anyway, not a complaint, just an observation.
