Hello everyone - I am VERY excited as I finally made my first U.S.A.
contact on 6 mtrs tonight with W0KKK, Charlie, in Kansas, EM19...I
worked Charlie with both my calls of VE5RC & VE5QRP...mni tnx to John,
VE5JCJ for 'elmering' me along and to both John and Jerry, VE5DC, tnx
for the landlines...
...I am running an FT-817 at 5 watts to a Cushcraft 4 el yagi at 55
feet...next I worked KB9YZE in MO and KC0CII also in MO...
...some observations, if a received signal is S1, S2, S3 on the FT-817,
my signal probably won't be heard...but if a received signal is S7,8 or
9 I seem to have a real chance to be copied...I also have a feeling that
maybe I should be running 100 watts...
...it was vy enjoyable listening to John, JCJ, working quite a few
stations on the band...stations heard were W6OAO, KC0RWC(DM79),
KC0OEB(EM18), W5BPT, K3DUW, W0BR(EM25), K3DUW, K7TRE, K7YLO, WDOB, K7AD,
W7MGC, N0LIE(EM27) and other stations that I didn't write down on my
scratch pad...THIS IS FUN!...and I'll be back...73 Bruce. -ps- just
worked Bill, K0HR in NB(EN10)...
72/73 - Bruce ve5rc/ve5qrp - I believe in the KIS principle.
