Because sometimes people can take the money back and you are out of luck...
You have no guarantees or protection like a credit card.
Plus it takes a chuck of your money when you receive the money (just like 
any merchant account though).

I've known several people that have gotten ripped off with PayPal.
I use it, and have never had a problem though.
