Man it was a cold long lonely winter on 6 meters but this spring brings promise of DX. Yesterday was the kind of 6 meter day that just puts a smile on your face and keeps it there.
If working Aruba wasn't good enough, I also had domestic stations in (on and off) most of the day. I had to go to work at noon and hadn't put my old 5054DX into the new company car (didn't seem much need until the band started opening). Wired a quick connect into a spare power terminal and slapped a 5 inch mag mount with a NMO150 antenna on the roof. 1.4:1 SWR and was good to go.
>From noon until about 9 pm (local / dusk) worked 6 stations from the mobile (AL, FL, MT, UT, CA). Several new grids and got consistent 59 reports. Could have worked more but we were busy and besides I only worked the really strong stations. I figure if he's only 53 at my radio what am I going to do with 25 watts and a mag mount mobile antenna. Sure made my 12 hour shift fly by though.
Ought to be some way to rig up a 6 meter loop on a Ford Crown Vic though.
