Hi Trent,
I have had a FT8900 in the past. Used it very little
on 6 meter FM, but 10 meter FM is a blast. The
crossband capability is great-you can work 10 meters
while walking around the house with an HT. Should be
able to do the same with 6. There is decent activity
on 6 meter FM, but not as much as on SSB. I have
worked several new grids from this QTH on FM, and my
first 6 meter QSO ever with Arkansas came on FM (when
I was in EN51). I wouldn't want to be limited to only
6 meter FM, but it is a nice addition to SSB, and the
FT8900 with its crossband repeat abilities might give
you the opportunity to get in on some 6 meter openings
that you might otherwise miss. FM is better than QRT.
