1) Get rid of the tuner........
2) put up a good vertical either dipole or 5/8wave gnd plane OR 5/8 over
5/8 dipole
3) 65 miles is a long shot on a 6mtr rptr if the rptr is not high OR is
not running a noise blanker on the rcvr and has hi noise level at the
rcvr site (which is all too common on 6mtrs) for 65 miles away, you will
probably need a higher antenna.....(also does the rptr run PL?)
4) but get rid of the tuner........that does nothing to help improve
antenna radiation....and on 6 THAT is what counts.....if the SWR is HIGH
and you use a tuner, you do NOTHING to help the antenna radiate
better...and your coax losses are now higher and thus less power at the
antenna! I cannot say it enough...THIS IS VHF! THROW OUT THE TUNER!!!!
TUNE THE ANTENNA AT THE ANTENNA! :)
Ok ok....Im off my soapbox...for now ;)
