[SixClub] FD 2004

Mike, I have had the same problem (noise) for a long time. I finally "bit
the bullet" and spent the $150.00 for the GAP speaker. It was almost a
magical fix for my 706mkIIg. I have a lot of 3phase lines at the front and
back of my property + two restraints with their various blowers and air
conditioners running 24/7. The speaker is allowing me to talk to stations
that I could not hear without the filter of the speaker. Rumor has it that
the Clear Speech speaker will be even better when Bob Heil is finished
working it over. It is supposed to hit the market in a few days.
BTW - we made about 60 contacts on six meters from Tyler State Park, TX. on
FD. We did not realized that 6 was open until almost too late. Our VHF
operator had to cancel at the last minute, and no one was checking the band.

Operated from home here in San Antonio, TX. 1st FD I have done in many
years. Also new to operating 6 meters even though I have been a fan of
the band for a long time. As usual I had my fairly strong noise to
contend with. Yesterday afternoon started right off the bat with a
couple of contacts in Colo. then a local mobile in EL09. A couple more
contacts into Ca and UT for a new state. Rest of the evening propagation
to WI, Il & IN till shut down at 01:30z
This morning another couple of locals here in EL09 and then AZ and a
couple of contacts to CA. Total for the weekend 18 contacts, 10 new
grids worked and 1 new state.
