Good morning Jerry.
Yeah I was up late watching the spots and wishing. I did actually hear WJ7S
in CN84 last night around midnight but he faded away just as fast as he
appeared.
I finished a 5 element beam early yesterday morning and put it on an 8' mast
and propped it up. Hooked up my 25w 5054 to it and sat on the back deck and
worked K0HA, AD5D and KD5KPJ. This was my first attempt at building a
non-wire antenna and the fact that it worked amazed me. The antenna had
originally been a receive only TV antenna with 11 elements on a 22' boom.
There were two of these monsters at the local middle school and they were in
the way. So they gave them to me if I'd take them down. Hmmm, tough
decision. So the aluminum supply at my QTH grew substantially. These
antennas were commercial built with "F" connectors for feed points and 1/2",
1-peice tubing for the elements and 1 1/4" booms. Now, It's on to build the
second half of what will become stacked 5-els.
Good luck to everybody during FD 2004. We'll be operating as NO4Y in FM16.
And Jerry, I'll listen for you today.
