It IS funny..got a good laugh (though not true...you don't have a ground
lead on a phone line..it is balanced against earth ground) but passed it
on to old co-workers anyway...(any dog would yelp on the 1st ring...90V
AC ring voltage is NOT a fun thing to feel, especially at the ring
generator itself....been there, moaned a few times myself ;)
