I have a crank up tower here and have always noticed that when nested, the
antenna works well for short single hop Es and some Au... thats at 30 feet...
At 48 feet , I reach a 'zone' where double hop signals pickup but about 3 db
and the single hops decay by about the same amount...Au is about the same...
When I put the tower to 60ft+ single hops signals are at least another 3 db
weaker, but the double hop and longer stuff really comes through...
There are times when no-one else locally will be hearing people I am hearing
with 5x5 signals...
I use a 7 element HB yagi on a 24 ft boom...it was computer optimized very
extensively before being built...
It works quite admirably..!! 73 de Jordan DO-21....
