WRONGO .. Bob, polarization IS a factor between the two stations
| communicating. .. MOST of the time, they should be "dancing" .. but, that
| is not 1% true, but USUALLY, it is THE important factor. You have
| experience with this, n'est-ce-pas? I used to use a 6M Gotham TWIST
| antenna back in the early 70s .. it was great for snaggin sigs .. but
the
| 14 el horizontal KLM used to kick it's butt, usually, after the band was
| really OPEN ..
| Now have a 14 el laying (lying?) in the back yard, will be sticking in the
| air, and just my swapped HF for a Ranger 1W 6M radio so I can
| listen/Transmit, and provide a live feed to the Internet 6M fans, without
| tying up other rigs for the job. Now, you have me thinking .. how about a
| every so often I switch `tween hor and vert ... like every hour? Easy to
| do! Idea is to have like a "reverse" beacon .. you send, on .. say
50.125,
| a HELLO test .. and then, about 15 seconds or so, later, you get back the
| results of your hallllloooo on the internet, via my site .... @ CN7 ---
| then, 5 minutes later, you do it again, other polarization (my station has
| switched aerials on the 60 minute marker, so you would have to take that
| into consideration) And, in the meantime you can flop your poles .. ---
then
| you will know something you only suspected before? What say, OM .. and
| howdy to those out there reading this .. whatcha think? Note .. this will
| be a totally remote thing, as my station, for this exercise, would not be
| TRANSMITTING .. just "lurking" and putting the results available via the
| Internet.

| You really dont see the difference MOST of the time......actually a
| CIRCULAR polarized antenna works best in skip or DX mode....because any
| shifts in polarization is ignored by the CP antenna....a Linear antenna
| may "see" a reflection shift from one pol to another and yes, you could
| end up with a deep fade then....but with a CP antenna, you only lose 3db
| or so all the time...and have less fades due to pol shifts.
