[SixClub] Birdies?

Doug; I've lived with various 6-meter birdies -- many clustered
around 50.110 -- for several sunspot cycles. If you're lucky, you may
find they're from something in your house and you can do something
about them. More likely they're some neighbor's computer or
computerized device, and you'll just have to live with them.
One very helpful device I use here is the Clearspeech speaker; its
built-in DSP does a great job of killing birdies if they're clean
birdies, but if yours is broad/modulated it won't help.
Unfortunately the world is filling up with birdie generators; one
suddenly appeared here that was way over S9+40 just below 50.100, and
wouldn't peak on my beam. It turned out to be a new computer
controlled power meter the power company had hung on the back of my
house! I (with the FCC's help!) convinced them to swap it out for the
old fashioned mechanical meter, and the problem went away... though
there are more of them here in Glenview, 'cause I hear them on my
IC-706 in the car.
And we're carping about BPL??? The QRM generators are already here!!!
Good luck...
