[SixClub] IC-505

David, the IC-505 is a dandy little radio. I used one here for many 
years as my 50.110/50.125 monitor, when my main rig was an ancient 
Drake TR-6 (which did get me a 6M DXCC) and I didn't want to run down 
its tubes and run up my electric bill by leaving the TR-6 on all the 
time.

My 505 has been down in Curacao the past few years after I donated it 
to our contest station, PJ2T. It's worked a lot of DX from there 
since then, including a lot of SixClub folks, I bet, and though it 
was recently replaced with an IC-706 MkII it's still there as a 
backup.

If the price is at all decent grab it... I would, and I sure don't 
need another 6 meter rig at this point!

PS: I've seen a lot of preaching to the choir on this reflector in 
the past few days... I think all that energy would be better spent 
directed at the League (you do know your director, don't you?) in the 
case of the licensing change proposal, and to the FCC in formal 
Comments after we know what they've actually proposed in the BPL NPRM.

As to learning CW, like roller skating or playing the banjo, it comes 
a lot easier to some than others. At the very begining of the VEC 
program one of our applicants just couldn't make 5 WPM, and he tried 
and tried. I suspect now he was dyslexic. My wife, who's an extremely 
talented musician, worked very hard at CW before she was able to 
struggle through her 5 WPM. It's easy to judge others against 
ourselves, but life doesn't always work that way!
