Here's my two cents - I've tried to learn code for a long time - am currentl=
y=20
trying again. Something about it doesn't click in my head. I welcome the=20
opportunity to pass the written tests and show proficiency in that way (gene=
ral,=20
advanced, etc.) I probably have more knowledge about the newer modes,=20
especially digital like VOIP than many 13 or 20 wpm hams, so I agree with th=
e comment=20
that CW is just another mode, to a point.

However, I am keenly aware of the benefits of CW when attempting to pass=20
traffic under difficult noise conditions, and I have the UTMOST respect for=20=
those=20
with code proficiency. One of my main interests in amateur radio is emergen=
cy=20
services, from ARES to Skywarn and beyond - as I've said, CW is a valuable=20
mode in emergencies, and I am sure that it is enjoyable for those with the k=
nack=20
for it.

Ham radio has always been a great brotherhood (sisterhood, too) so I hope=20
that we can manage to keep a unified front while discussing our opinions in=20=
an=20
open forum!

73, and keep up the great dialogue. I look forward each evening to checking=
=20
my "ham email" and seeing the topic O' the day.
