Taken from the ARRL website:
"The middle group of licensees--Technician, Tech Plus (Technician with
Element 1 credit) and General--would be consolidated into a new General
license that no longer would require a Morse examination. Current Technician
and Tech Plus license holders automatically would gain current General class
privileges without additional testing. The current Element 3 General
examination would remain in place for new applicants."
>From what I read, everyone becomes a General except Advanced and Extras.
They get consolidated together.
IMOH, The Techs and Tech+'s should be put into the new Novice Class. Anyway
you look at it, the fact that the new Novice Class gets HF priveleges right
away is an upgrade for the T/T+ group. If you want to give the T+ a break,
give them a 1 year graace period to TAKE the general test. At the end of
that year, any remaing T+ become Novices.
My nickels worth.
