para phrasing from an article i read last fall went looking for it
and finally found it
Is BPL already obsolete? some people think so the september of
IEEE Spectrum, monthly mag for institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers describes how a utility in Kentucky rolled out a high speed
broad band service to 58,000 customers for 25.00/month using=20
IEEE standard (802.16) or metropolitan area networks or MANS
using radio for the last mile of coverage and they built it for a =
fraction
of the cost of BPL. havent heard any outcry from the hams in that city
last line was wondering how many govt officials were in the utility's=20
pocket. The REMC does have a huge lobby for what reason=20
anymore since not much or rural america is without electric power=20
today. I grew up in an area that some parts of didnt get electric
till the middle 50's
REMC=3D Rural electric membership co-operatives
my 2 cents also De K9OXX chris
