Jerry asked... < Any reports as to how the contest has gone?
Jerry the contest was fun; we worked 27 unique calls with a total of 59
contacts. I was disappointed only seeing a few new calls however there
were no doubt many I didn't hear or know about. It would be interesting
to know how many first time WSJT users got on during the contest.
One of my best contacts was Feb 7th at 0229 - 0249 UTC. The band was
open with strong E-Skip (single hop as far as I could tell) into
four-land mostly from my EL19 location. I set a sked with Bob (K1SIX) in
FN43 and completed with him on JT6M and also copied him perfectly on
JT65B! That distance was 1683 miles. Propagation mode E's but very weak.
His signal was -26db !!! This contact was impossible except for WSJT.
We were on 50.305MHz and in fact a SSB station can be heard during my
receive period but it does not interfere with the decoding at all. If
anyone is interested we saved the wave-file and can email it.
Of course there were lots of fun contacts that one just sticks out. Four
contacts via E's, 10 tropo (weak signal) and the remainder all meteor
scatter.
Now to get the log in shape for submitting...
